Further Down the Rabbit Hole

I’ve put off creating a post on the chaos known as the United States government, thinking that we’ve surely reached a limit on just how far this can go.  And then the next day, it goes even further, and then all of a sudden, we’re threatening nuclear war, with no idea how in the hell we got to this point.

And you know what?  It’s exhausting.  This is why I try to avoid drama.  I’m not cut out for this new and improved level of mayhem we call the White House every. single. day. And we’re only 6 months into this.  I’m supposed to maintain my sanity for another 3 1/2 years? 3 1/2 more years of the gas-lighting, flat-out lies, and trying to screw over every non-millionaire in the country?  And it’s not just what information comes out of relatively well-balanced sources.  I spent a week being inundated with MSNBC-everything (apologies to those who love MSNBC), and that was just as exhausting.  As much as I am horrified at what’s happening, I don’t need it beaten into my head that I should be horrified.

This administration has crossed so many lines, so many lines that I never imagined WOULD be crossed, and when my phone lights up with another notification, my reaction is now more along the lines of, “What did he do NOW?” instead of OMG.

And so it seems kind of appropriate and not at all out of the ordinary that today, a giant inflatable chicken with orange hair is glaring at the White House.  Massive, inflatable chicken with orange hair is staring down the White House.  Just another day in this surreal experience.

  1. Loved this post, chicken and all …. but please, please, please only 3 and 1/2 more years. That extra one may throw me over the edge. 😉
